October 16th’s Saudi Superclasico game between Brazil and Argentina was a nail biter worth watching until the last minute. The two competitive teams faced off in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As rivaling teams, the win was not something easy to come by, both battling hard for each ball and giving all the effort they could manage to generate. Brazil and Argentina are infamous for their rivalry, on the fields and in the stands. Even only playing friendlies, the games tend to be neck and neck for the entirety of every game. This rivalry is known as the top rivalry between any national soccer teams. In the end, the win was earned by Brazil in a 1-0 game, scoring the deciding goal in the 93rd minute.

The two teams contain some of the highest performing players in the european futbol leagues such as: Neymar, Marcelo Vieira and Miranda for Brazil against Lionel Messi, Mauro Icardi and Sergio Agüero playing for Argentina. Unfortunately, Argentina was missing their star captain Lionel Messi alongside tenacious winger Di Maria. This resulted in the loss of plays to goal for the Argentinians who found themselves with only one single play to goal and were unable to convert this shot into a score on the board.

But Argentina’s defense held up strong nonetheless for almost the entirety of the game, stopping the speedy Neymar from converting any goals for the first 93 minutes. With 12 separate shots by the Brazilians, only three ended up being on target, struggling as well to find the back of the net.

In the 93rd minute, Inter Milan’s Brazilian centre back brought forth his hunger for a goal and found the conversion they were looking for. The play started with a corner delivered by Neymar, driven to front post with force. Miranda came all the way up from the back line with the hunger to score. As the ball was sent into the box, Miranda jumped in front of goalkeeper Sergio Romero, directing the pall perfectly into the back of the neck with his header. With little defensive pressure on his back and a wide open space to run into, Miranda easily took his shot and succeeded, leading his team to a well earned victory.
