Rest in Peace Mac Miller

Mac Miller was found dead in San Fernando Valley, California september 7th, 2018. The cause of death was an apparent overdose. Police reports say he had been dead for a few hours before authorities were on the scene. Miller’s assistant made a frantic 911 call after she found the rapper unresponsive after a party with friends. Mac Miller had just released a new album called “SWIMMING”. Things seemed to be going well in the rapper’s life post release and that is why his death shocked the music community.

Miller grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Music has always been a major part of his life. His mother, Karen Meyers, was a photographer while his dad Mark McCormick was an architect. Both photography and architecture require a very creative mindset, so Mac’s parents were thrilled when he showed interest in the music industry. Miller is known for albums; “Blue Slide Park” which topped the billboard 200 at number 1, and “Watching Movies with the Sound off”.

Miller’s ex Girlfriend, Ariana Grande, posted a tribute on social media to remember the life of the rapper. She also revealed she was listening to two of Miller’s songs off his latest album in the wake of his death. She posted on her instagram story that she was listening to “Ladders” and “Swimming”. Grande then posted a long statement about Miller Stating,
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will. I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. so many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do.”

Miller was pronounced dead at 11:51 a.m. He was 26 years old. According to TMZ, His body was flown to Pittsburgh for a Jewish ceremony. His family released the following statement obtained by The Rolling Stone.

“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”

The music community was shocked by this sudden death of a Hip Hop great. Mac Miller and his work will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
