The BHS Girls Lacrosse team has got off to a great start this 2018 season with consistent victories in their initial games. Mackenzie Chapman, an all-star BHS lax player and one of this year’s senior captains, gave some insight regarding hopes and dreams for the team this year as well as highlights thus far.

She remarked that each practice the team has been growing closer and closer and consistently building the team bond, despite not being that far into the season yet. “We have really been growing as a team ever since the first practice and every game it is just getting better. No specific season highlights yet, but I’m sure there will be,” said Chapman.

Chapman noted that another key aspect to their team this year has been the strong force of underclassman players this year, specifically the sophomore girls. “This year our sophomores are bigger, stronger, and more confident which makes this year so different because they are a big part of our starting line up and having them really believe in themselves has made a clear difference.” On top of this, she remarked that the energy this year is especially great and the team has overall vibed really well together. “As a captain, I think we have a really great energy this year, it’s always different and this year it’s really positive and intense,” said Chapman.

When touching on strengths and weaknesses the team has had thus far, Chapman ensures that the strengths definitely outweigh the weaknesses, which has been of great benefit to the team overall. Their strengths have been being in really good shape, putting them in an advantage over other teams. A weakness they are readily overcoming as games and practices progress is the occasional nervousness during games.

The team greatest hope for this season is competing and taking home the 2018 State Championship, which they are definitely in the running for. “This is my main goal for my senior year as a captain and just a player of the BHS lacrosse team!”
