If you are a fan of the popular series “Stranger Things”, you are well aware of the importance of this last week. Just four nights ago, Netflix finally released their long-awaited second season. The first season was wildly successful, a top critic from Rotten Tomatoes commented, “In the spirit of longform TV mysteries such as Lost and Under the Dome comes a playfully spooky, Stephen Kingesque headscratcher designed to hook you five minutes in.” -Jim Schembri.

The show features a very well-liked and respectable cast, including Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, and Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven. All three of these well-loved characters are featured in the second season as well. As for the storyline of the show, it is set in Indiana in the 80’s, where a young boy mysteriously disappears. Every episode is a captivating mystery where the boy’s friends and family are searching for him and eventually get drawn closer and closer to supernatural forces and a strange young girl named Eleven.

The second season holds a lot of excitement mostly because of the great anticipation surrounding it. There was talk of a second season almost immediately after the season one finale by cast members during interviews, and ever since this viewers have been long awaiting its arrival.

The recently released season is said to include even more mystery, new characters, and new surprises. One of the new characters is named “Max”, who is said to be a strong-willed and confident teenage girl at their school and is meant to defy the stereotypes of female roles during this time period. Another new edition to the cast is Billy, who is Max’s stepbrother. He is said to be “all-that” and “hyper confident” according to news source NME. The plot of season two will supposedly cover more of the discovery of the mystery, versus the lead up to it that was the majority of season one. Be sure to check it out for yourself and decide if it was worth all of the excitement!
