Beaches of the Island
Across the water on a clear day, you can see the Cascades and a view of Seattle. On our side, this park has trails, wetlands, and picnic tables, as well as scuba diving access. According to the Park District’s website, “It is an excellent place for diving enthusiasts to observe unique underwater fissures.”
Hawley Cove Park
Watch the ferries come in and search for sea glass on this rocky beach. If you take the quarter-mile Hawley Cove Trail, you’ll find yourself with a view of Mount Rainier and the Seattle skyline.
Schel Chelb Beach
Near Lynwood Center, this beach has a playground, a wide open saltwater shoreline, swimming beach, and trails that connect to Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve. It’s a beautiful spot for a casual picnic!
