The holiday season is filled with giving and receiving. People all over the world are busy searching for the perfect gift and eagerly making their wish lists. But amidst all the cheer and merriment, it is easy to forget some of the most important people in our lives: our teachers. The teachers here at BHS work hard everyday to educate us, and they deserve something in return. Here are some gift ideas that would make your teacher’s year complete.
Gift cards – While this may seem unthoughtful, gift cards let your teachers pick their gift for themselves. Good places include Starbucks, stores, and restaurants on the island.
Candles – Everyone loves seasonal scents! Who wouldn’t want their house to smell like gingerbread?
Tea – A great gift for cuddling up with and sipping on during the cold winter months ahead.
Chocolate or candy – This is an undisputedly good gift. Bon Bon is a great place to get Christmas candy; they really up their game this time of the year.
Books – If you are looking for a meaningful gift, books are a great way to go. If you have a strong relationship with a teacher and know their interests, a book can add more to your conversation.
Homemade treats – If you enjoy baking or cooking, cookies and peppermint bark are just two of several delicious treats you could make after school. This would be a fun and easy way to brighten your teachers day.
If you are looking for more specifics, two wonderful teachers provided their ideas…
The extremely generous and selfless Mr. Lewis said most of all he wants his students to be happy, but he would also like a cool Dave Matthews CD if he had to get something.
Ms. Zonoff loves Starbucks CD’s, but surprisingly she was very against the idea of candy, saying she was disappointed when she received Bon Bon fudge one year. Keeping this in mind, not every teacher may like candy so make sure you know who you’re buying for.
